  Flag and Tackle Cheer

Cheerleading is a great sport for little girls and young ladies.
They learn team work as well as coordination. At the higher
levels they start developing their skills. Having children
involved in any sport keeps them active, stronger and healthier.

We are very proud of all of our cheerleaders.  The commitment of these boys and girls to be part of a team gives them a fun activity and also teaches them to work and play as a team.

FLAG CHEER

The Flag Cheerleading program is a place for young athletes to start learning Cheer techniques and to start working together as a team. They learn the basic moves and fundamentals of Cheering while making friends and staying active. They also cheer for their football team on game days. Our flag cheerleaders have done an amazing job at our local competitions where they perform their exhibition routines.

CONDITIONING

Times to be posted soon!.  Conditioning will last 10 days ( Monday through Friday, no weekends) so they will have the 20 required hours of conditioning in accordance with Pop Warner rules. We will do this at the old city park (directly across the street from Havelock Elementary). I would suggest  the kids start exercising at home at least a month before conditioning, it will reduce the risk of being extremely sore after conditioning!

ABOUT CONDITIONING

Bring a  water bottle or gatorade, bring plenty!

Apply bug repellant before practice!

Bring a towel in case the ground is wet

Hair should be in a ponytail at all times

DO NOT wear jewelry including earrings!

No fingernail polish at conditioning, practice, games or competition

Make sure your nails are cut to a safe length to avoid scratching others while stunting

No jeans are allowed at practices at any time!

Wear comfortable clothes and tie your shoes!

Practices

Practice times and locations after conditioning will depend on your coach.

Games

Games are held on Saturdays. The girls are required to cheer at all games unless you have previously discussed it with your coach. Several of our games will be held out of town and traveling is required. Last year we had games in Havelock, New Bern, Jacksonville, Greenville, Vanceboro, Pamlico and Raleigh.

Fundraising

FUNDRAISING IS HELD THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND THE CHEERLEADERS ARE VERY ACTIVE IN IT. THE MONEY RAISED WILL HELP PAY THE COSTS OF THE GIRLS ROOMS IN THE EVENT THEY ADVANCE TO REGIONALS OR NATIONALS. IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO THAT THEN YOU CAN PRINT A FUNDRAISING FORM ON THE FORMS PAGE.

Local Competition

TBD

Regional Competition

REGIONAL COMPETITION WILL BE HELD TBD . ( MITEY MITES DO NOT ADVANCE TO REGIONALS ) IF YOUR TEAM HAS PLACED FIRST OR SECOND AT LOCALS THEN YOU WILL ADVANCE TO REGIONALS. IT IS IMPORTANT YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE TO LEAVE THANKSGIVING DAY AND BE CHECKED IN THE HOTEL BY 4:00 PM, SO THEY CAN COMPETE ON FRIDAY. IF YOU DO NOT THINK YOUR CHILD WILL BE ABLE TO GO WITH HER TEAM THEN THE COACH NEEDS TO KNOW IMMEDIATELY. THERE IS A LOT OF EFFORT PUT INTO TEACHING AND LEARNING A ROUTINE AND NOT SHOWING UP WILL ONLY HURT THE REST OF THE TEAM. THE GIRLS ARE REQUIRED TO STAY AT WHICH EVER HOTEL WE ARE ASSIGNED TO. THE PARENTS MAY STAY AT ANOTHER HOTEL OR HAVE THE CHEER COORDINATOR BOOK THEIR ROOMS WITH THE TEAM. THE COST OF A ROOM HAS BEEN AROUND $100.00 IN THE PAST

National Competition

NATIONAL COMPETITION IS HELD IN DECEMBER IN FLORIDA AND IF YOU PLACE FIRST OR SECOND AT REGIONALS YOU WILL BE IN FLORIDA FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 DAYS IN DECEMBER. AGAIN THE GIRLS ARE REQUIRED TO STAY AT THE HOTEL THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO. THE COST IS APPROXIMATELY 450.00 PER CHILD OR PER PERSON (THIS IS WHY FUNDRAISING IS NECESSARY). IT INCLUDES THEIR HOTEL COST, ADMISSION TO WALT DISNEY WORLD WITH HOPPER PASSES, PARKING AND ADMISSION TO COMPETITION HELD AT THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS COMPLEX.

Conflicts

Please try to resolve all problems with coaches first before going to the coordinator. The coordinator is there to help you but you must first try to resolve your situations with coaches. If the coordinator cannot help you, your next step is to the tackle cheer coordinator and of it is still not resolved provide the Havelock  Pop Warner board with a WRITTEN statement.
